How speed is measured

Chinese typing speed is usually counted in characters per minute. KeyRace adds up the characters of correctly typed words and divides by the minutes elapsed. Only committed characters are compared, so pinyin, Wubi and other input methods are measured the same way.

How to type

  • Type the pinyin and pick a candidate with Space or a number key to commit it.
  • When the committed text matches the word, the next word starts right away.
  • To move on without finishing a word, press Space after what you have typed. The word is counted as missed.

FAQ

Can I use Traditional characters?
Words are in Simplified Chinese for now. Traditional characters are counted as mistakes.
Does choosing candidates count against me?
Yes. Picking candidates is part of real typing, so that time is included. Common words often appear as the first candidate, so practice pays off quickly.
